Editing
I'm a freelance editor. I have seven years of editing experience from my work at CSIS. I'm also a part-time copyeditor for Rethink Priorities, where I review publications focused on global health and development, animal welfare, artificial intelligence, and climate change. I do additional contract work with other think tanks and foundations listed below.
Consultation: I review early-stage research and advise on methods, sources, timelines, and post-launch media strategies. My rate is typically $300-500 for the average 20-page policy report.
Copyediting: My rate is $50/hour, and I can typically review 6-9 pages per hour, depending on report complexity. I am most familiar with APA and Chicago style guides, but can support alternative formats. I approach copyediting as a researcher, and therefore fact-check and investigate arguments and conclusions, in addition to suggesting stylistic and grammatical changes. Please email me at shaanakshaikh@gmail.com for any requests.
